Aurora’s Playlist Update

The playlist has worked out great. Classical music at the start gets her in the mood and lets her know bedtime is approaching. Some songs remind her more than others, and she says “sleepy.” The bluegrass songs allow for a gently sing-a-long into her ear as she rests her head on my shoulder and the Beatles track will be great too. When away from home she struggles to sleep in changed environments but the playlist calms her down. We bought her an i-pod alarm clock that plays for up to 90 mins before switching off at bed time. We even have it set as a very quiet alarm so when she wakes up its already playing in the background whilst she calmly reads books left in her cot. Beautiful.

Updating has been a little harder as the only free time we get is when she is nodding off and the i-pod is in use! Managed to sneak in this evening without waking her and took the i-pod away. New playlist below, new additions have “NEW” at the end.

Aurora’s Playlist

Aurora’s terrible two’s have started to show and our general music is for the most part taken up with dancing. Its time to bring some regular recognisable soothing music into the day to help her calm down when frustrated and at sleep times too.

The idea is to have something she recognises and associates with serenity. So we created an iPod playlist for her allowing us to occasionally remove the first tune and add another at the end, creating a continuous roll of changing music over the months and years. The ipod is attached to a small speaker so can go anywhere with us, and can also plug into the car system.

The concept is to have two sub-playlists. The first being soft relaxing music, the second to introduce a wide variety of styles in a gentle format along with one educational song. The first playlist starts with opera, moving into some a capella blue-grass, the Big Number Song and finishing off with some soft funk. Listed below. Each time we change we’ll try to update.

Any suggestions for new tunes would be appreciated.
